Delores Joan Huggins Lucas

Delores Joan Huggins Lucas, 89, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Morgantown, passed away peacefully, in her home, Saturday, July 18, 2026. She was born September 17, 1936, in Morgantown, and lived a life marked by love, devotion, and quiet strength.
Delores was the daughter of the late Harry Huggins and Olive Goodwin Krenosky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lucas; her infant daughter, Patricia June Cooley; her sister, Lillian Cost; her brothers, Harlan Huggins, Herman Huggins, Edgar Huggins, and Gail Huggins; and her grandson, Justin Lucas.
Delores is survived by her daughters, Deborah Latham and husband James, Marsha Cottrell and husband David; her sons, Roy Lucas and wife Robin, and Jeffrey Lucas and wife Colleen. She also leaves behind Donna Webster, who held a special place in her heart along with her sisters, Gloria Powroznik and Joyce Taylor; and her brother, Robert Huggins. Delores was a proud and loving grandmother to Jamie Croaston, Jeff Croaston, Shane Lucas, Sarah Lucas Phillips, Joshua Lucas, Lucas Cottrell, and Logan Cottrell; and she was blessed with nine great- grandchildren.
Delores was a past member of Blacksville Baptist Church, where she found fellowship and a sense of community. Her faith and her gentle spirit were reflected in the way she treated others, always with kindness, patience, and care. She was known as a loving woman who placed her family at the center of her life and took great pride in the bonds she shared with them.
In her free time, Delores enjoyed reading and working word searches, pastimes that brought her comfort and enjoyment. She was an avid reader and appreciated the simple pleasures of a quiet afternoon on the sunporch with a good book or a puzzle to solve. These interests were a reflection of her thoughtful nature and her appreciation for life’s peaceful moments.
Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home Friday, July 24, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. until the 12 noon funeral service, with Pastor Rosemary Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.
