David Carl Kutay

David Carl Kutay, 66, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Born August 19, 1959, in Wheeling, he lived a life marked by kindness, warmth, and a friendly spirit that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
David was the beloved husband of Arlene Lavinia Miller Kutay, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage. He was the son of Carl Harry Kutay and Cecelia Ann Smith Kutay. He is also survived by his step-daughters, Shannon Hartley and Amber Hartley; his sister, Sharon White and her husband Russell; his nephews, Daniel White and Christopher (Midori) White and their son, Asher; his step-grandson, Anthony (Jessica) Conner; and his aunt, Carol Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his uncles, Frank and Victor Kutay; and aunt, Eleanor Kutay.
David was a man who appreciated the simple pleasures in life and found joy in familiar routines and favorite pastimes. He enjoyed playing poker, watching Westerns, and spending time sitting outside on the porch. He also looked forward to watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, which brought him comfort and enjoyment. These interests reflected his easygoing nature and the way he found happiness in everyday moments.
He attended St. John University Parish and valued the fellowship and sense of community it provided. Those who knew David will remember him as a friendly man who was easy to talk to and whose presence made others feel welcome. His gentle manner and steady companionship were gifts to his family and friends, and he will be remembered with love and gratitude.
Friends will be received at McCulla Funeral Home Thursday, May 28, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral will follow at 2. David’s life will be honored by those who loved him, and his memory will remain a source of comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
