Rita Ann Hartley Morris, a beloved 64-year-old from Waynesburg, peacefully passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. Born December 29, 1961, in Morgantown, she was the cherished daughter of the late Rex and Frances Hartley.
Rita was raised with a strong sense of faith, which remained a guiding force throughout her life.
She dedicated many years to her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role she held dear until she decided to fully embrace her family life.
Rita’s adventurous spirit and genuine love for life kept her engaged in various activities she enjoyed, such as fishing, camping, playing BINGO, and card games. She also had a deep curiosity and a passion for learning, often taking college courses simply for the joy of acquiring new knowledge. Above all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.
Rita is survived by her siblings, Rex Jr., Joyce, Lisa, and Tina Marie; her sons and daughters-in- law, Robert and Daisy Cozad, Christopher and Angela Cozad; her beloved grandchildren, Alexis Faith, Melody Rose, Landon James, Lydia Paige, Aubrey Jean, Natalie Grace, Christopher Aaron, Jr., and Robert Franklin IV; and her other loving siblings.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her sisters: her twin, Renee and sister, Anna Marie.
Family and friends are invited to gather in the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, 10 S. High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501, Saturday, May 9, from 12 noon until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
