Chris Cottrell

Chris Cottrell, 64, of Stewartstown Community, Morgantown, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side. Born in Morgantown July 21, 1961, he was a son of the late Roosevelt “Rose” and Betty Fitch Cottrell.
Chris was a proud coal miner, having worked for more than 20 years underground and retiring from Blacksville #2 Mine, and a member of the UMWA.
He loved being outdoors, hunting for that big buck or fishing, and taking care of his “baby”, his 1976 Ford pick-up.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Mabel Hunter Cottrell; two daughters, Lora Clark (husband, Donovan) and Christa Cottrell, both of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Raelyn and Kasen Clark, and Rory and Khaleesi Gillum; his sister, Rita Deal of Masontown; and three brothers, Mike, Steve and Tim Cottrell, all of Morgantown; and by a number of nieces and nephews and their families. Chris was dearly loved, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa., from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, and again Saturday, May 9, from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service, with the Rev. Carl Ables officiating. Interment follows in the Forks-of-Cheat Baptist Church Cemetery, Stewartstown.
