Preseason favorite Utah occupies the top spot in the first Big 12 power rankings of the season. The Utes, a newcomer to the league, received seven of a possible 16 first-place votes from a panel of media that regularly covers the Big 12. Oklahoma State, which reached the league championship game in 2023, received five first-place votes. Kansas received two first-place votes, while Kansas State and Arizona each had one. Morgantown’s Yao finishes runner-up at WVSSAC Girls Golf Tournament

MINERAL WELLS — Morgantown’s Angela Yao finished as the runner up at the 2024 WVSSAC Girls Golf Tournament at The Links at Woodridge Tuesday. Yao shot two-over, 71 to finish just behind Audrey Kerr of Bridgeport, who shot one-over, 70. A record 126 players participated in this year’s event. University’s Abby Kingora and Morgantown’s KayliKellog tied in 13th place shooting 17-over, 86.  Morgantown’s Evyn Trembush shot 96 to finish in a tied for 22nd while University’s Landra Shepher finished in a tie for 36 with a 104. For the first time in program history, the West Virginia University men’s soccer team sits atop the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Mountaineers also are ranked No. 1 by Top Drawer Soccer.
