State leaders back Gee following faculty vote

BY MIKE NOLTING State lawmakers are reacting following the ‘no confidence’ vote by the West Virginia University Faculty Assembly. The assembly voted 797 to 100 Wednesday afternoon in favor of the resolution. It now goes to the WVU Board of Governors for consideration. The BOG issued a statement after the vote that said Gee still has its full support. Gee has the support of both Gov. MPD to reroute traffic for WVU football game Saturday

This Saturday, the Morgantown Police Department will reroute traffic along Beechurst Avenue to minimize the congestion of roadways after the WVU football game. At that time, both lanes of Beechurst Avenue will be used for outgoing, southbound traffic. Northbound traffic coming from University Avenue will be rerouted onto Fayette Street. Officers will be stationed appropriately to help motorists navigate through the detour. Kickoff is 6 p.m. for the game against Duquesne.

WVU releases last set of final recommendations for programs under review

West Virginia University announced its final recommendations on Tuesday, following appeals hearing. The appeals were made based on initial recommendations made by the university as part of its Academic Transformation program. The transformation involves ongoing efforts to trim $45 million from WVU’s budget, due to shortfalls.
