State plane OK’d to fly governor home, reelection events

CHARLESTON — West Virginia’s state airplane can make side trips to Gov. Jim Justice’s hometown as well as fly him to campaign events if the trips coincide with official state business, ethics officials said Thursday. WVU launches coronavirus website for students and the community

West Virginia University has launched an informational COVID-19 coronavirus website for students and the community, after fielding numerous questions from both about the virus. The website, coronavirus.wvu.edu, went live Thursday. State trooper hit by man driving the wrong way on I-79

A West Virginia State Trooper and the man who was driving the wrong way on Interstate 79 are both unharmed following a head-on collision on Wednesday morning. James Davie, of Washington, Pa., got onto I-79 traveling north in the southbound lanes from either the Westover or Star City exit, according to Sgt. D. Barger of the West Virginia State Police. Davie, driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, then collided with a state police cruiser, which was traveling south towards Morgantown, Barger said. County passes resolution in honor of the 19th Amendment’s anniversary

The Monongalia County Commission on Wednesday passed a resolution declaring March “West Virginia Women in History Month” in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment’s ratification in West Virginia. On June 4, 1919, both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passed the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote after more than 72 years of protest.
