Seven, including Mon County prosecutor, seek judge opening

BY MIKE NOLTING Seven people have applied to fill the vacancy in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court that will be created with the retirement of Monongalia County Circuit Judge Phillip Gaujot. The state Judicial Vacancy Commission recently closed the application period. One of the applicants is Monongalia County Prosecutor Perri Jo DeChristopher. Criminal complaint: Corbin stabbed to death

A criminal complaint filed by Monongalia County Sheriff’s Detective Jonathan Friend reveals the victim in an alleged Nov. 15 murder was stabbed to death. Deputies initially responded to a report of a car accident at the intersection of Luckey Lane and Green Bag Road. There, they found the body of Jamey Corbin, 47, of Fairmont. Investigators said evidence at the scene led them to believe Corbin was not killed by the car crash. The complaint indicates he was stabbed multiple times in the chest, neck and torso. Alderson man charged in beating death of wife

A Greenbrier County man is in custody charged in the beating death of his wife. According to a criminal complaint, Zach Dawson, 34, of Alderson, admitted to killing Marissa Dawson during a violent argument that extended over several hours from Thanksgiving night to early Friday morning. Marissa Dawson’s bloodied body was found by a friend at 9 a.m. Friday at a residence in Alderson. Police said Marissa Dawson suffered major facial trauma.
