WEIRTON -- No. 11 Clay-Battelle created plenty of big plays against Madonna, as the Cee-Bees won their fourth consecutive game Thursday night with a 49-20 victory over the Blue Dons.

Clay-Battelle (6-3) jumped out to a three-touchdown advantage and did not look back inside Jimmy Carey Stadium, in what was Madonna’s final home game of the season.

The Cee-Bees tallied touchdowns on each of its first four possessions, including a 75-yard drive to begin the game that saw quarterback Corey Coen scamper for a 29-yard touchdown run.

The Cee-Bees came out fired up on defense, and they backed the Blue Dons (1-8) up on their first drive of the game. The hosts were forced to punt from their own 25, however, a bad snap resulted in Clay-Battelle taking possession of the ball at the Madonna 14. Coen ran for 13 yards on the next play, and then the Cee-Bees scored their second touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run.

C-B struck again on a 44-yard run following a bobbled pitch to increase their advantage, 21-0.

Madonna responded with a touchdown on its next drive. The Blue Dons drove 34 yards for their first score of the night, as Aiden Cunningham plowed his way into the end zone to cut Madonna’s deficit down to 21-6.

Coen carried the load for the Cee-Bees on their next drive, as he led the way for his team on a 60-yard march. This time, Caleb Snodgrass capped the drive off with a 2-yard run.

Clay-Battelle’s defense got into the act on Madonna’s next drive, as the Blue Dons misplayed the kickoff, resulting in them having to begin their drive at the 5. The drive did not last long as the Cee-Bees recorded a safety on the first play of the drive to build a 30-6 advantage.

In the second half, the Cee-Bees found the end zone for the fifth time as they scored on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Gavin McLaughlin to Eli Cottrell for a 41-6 lead.

The Blue Dons responded with a touchdown of their own on their next possession, as Justin Kaczmarek rumbled for a 38-yard touchdown, and Madonna completed a pass for the 2-point conversion.

Clay-Battelle finished off the game with an 81-yard drive, capped off with Coen's 3-yard pass to McLaughlin, and then Snodgrass ran it in for the 2-point conversion.

The Cee-Bees, who are in position to make the state Class A playoffs for a second consecutive season, will travel to Magnolia next Friday to end the regular season.
