Michael Griffith/The Dominion Post Huntington Bank recently opened a new location in the Mountainlair on WVU's downtown campus, with a focus on putting students at the forefront.

MORGANTOWN – West Virginia University and Huntington Bank are strengthening their partnership with a shared commitment to student success, highlighted by a $250,000 contribution from the bank to support WVU student scholarships.

The partnership, announced in April, names Huntington as WVU’s official campus banking partner and expands the bank’s involvement with the university through financial education, career development and additional banking opportunities for students, faculty, staff and alumni.

The $250,000 contribution will provide scholarship support for WVU students, helping expand financial assistance and create additional opportunities for those pursuing higher education. The partnership also includes opportunities for students to participate in Huntington’s internship programs and its RISE program, which introduces students to careers in the financial services industry.

"At Huntington Bank, we care deeply about this state and this university, and we want to support those things and the young men and women that come through this institution," Huntington Bank WV Region President Chad Prather said. "We talk a lot about making lives better, helping businesses thrive, and strengthening the communities that we serve. That's probably not on any banner or plastered on a wall anywhere, but those are the things the people of this state and WVU do for others every single day. I think about what the city of Morgantown might look like if WVU wasn't present. The community that this university creates is second-to-none, and we are thrilled to have this partnership."

Huntington has also established an office in the Mountainlair, providing students with access to banking assistance and financial education. The location is staffed by Huntington employees who can help students open accounts, answer questions, and learn about managing their finances. Five Huntington ATMs are also available across WVU’s Morgantown campus.
