KINGWOOD – Halloween is many things to many cultures. The origin of Halloween goes back to the Roman Feralia, a time for prayers for the dead. A Celtic tradition considers Halloween, or Samhain, as the night when spirits of the departed can cross the barrier between the living and the dead. In the United States, All Saints Day is observed by the Roman Catholic and Protestant Episcopal churches. In the State of Louisiana it is a legal holiday. But for the children it is time to dress up and go door to door trick-or-treating and collect candy and other treats.
