TERRA ALTA – The Terra Alta Civic Club recently held its annual Senior Luncheon, honoring community members 80 years of age and older from the Portland District.
A delicious turkey dinner was prepared by Jim and Leslie Roper and the Alpine Lake Property Owners’ Committee (POC). The meal was served by volunteers from St. Matthew Methodist Church and St. Peter Catholic Church. The invocation was given by Fr. Dominic Athishu of the Catholic Churches of Preston County.
Guests were also treated to wonderful entertainment by Randy Thomas and Friends, featuring Randy Thomas, Pat Metheny, and Daniel Jenkins.
Honored as Eldest Lady was Zelmodine Casteel, 96, who was presented a fall flower arrangement sponsored by Clear Mountain Bank. Eldest Gentleman was Foster Huffman, 101. He was presented with the town cane, a tradition started by the Terra Alta Rotary Club and a gift certificate to Alpine Lake from the Civic Club.
A full turkey dinner was enjoyed by 30 women and 17 men, along with their guests, at the Alpine Lake Boathouse.
The Terra Alta Civic Club currently has the names of nearly 200 eligible seniors on its list but is missing contact information for many of them. Seniors who would like to be included on the Civic Club’s list are encouraged to contact Charlotte Wiles at 304-698-7652 or reach out to any Terra Alta Civic Club member.
The Terra Alta Civic Club extends its sincere appreciation to the Alpine Lake Property Owners’ Committee for its generous support and cooperation in making the Senior Luncheon possible, as well as for its continued support of the Civic Club’s other community projects.
