SABRATON – The Trinity Christian High School volleyball team earned its spot in the 2026 OVAC 1A volleyball tournament championship with a 3-0 sweep of Wood County Christian on Tuesday night, high on the hill in Sabraton.
The top-seeded Warriors (15-5-1) captured an early lead over the No. 4-seeded Wildcats in the opening set and never looked back en route to the victory.
Senior Marlo Flecker collected her 1,000th career kill during the contest. She is averaging 4.3 kills per set in 2026 with a 43% hitting percentage.
With the win, Trinity Christian advances to Saturday's 1A volleyball OVAC championship game in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
"We've been pretty good about coming out of the gates strong this season and making sure we get ahead," TCS head coach Alycia Perine said. "That helps us prepare for the rest of the game. If we have a little slump, we have the room to recover. We have also focused on mental toughness this year, and our girls have come a long way with that."
The Warriors dominated the opening set, building a 14-2 lead and eventually extending it to 22-7 before securing a 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set began the same as the first, but the Wildcats battled back midway through and found themselves trailing 14-9.
However, the hosts had other plans and secured 11 of the next 12 points to take away a 25-10 win and lead the match 2-0 heading to the third.
"Our defense is like our superpower," Perine said. "I can't speak highly enough about our blocking and our libero. Honestly, all of our defensive specialists back there can cover any ground any time. They do an amazing job."
The Warriors opened another 6-1 lead in the third set, but Wood County Christian responded with a 4-1 run that cut the deficit to two points, 7-5.
Trinity Christian responded with a run of their own, but a 16-10 lead once again became two after WCC found the positive side of a timeout.
Eventually, the top-seeded Warriors broke through and secured a sweep with a 25-19 triumph in the third set, punching their ticket to the championship.
"Regardless of opponent on Saturday, we have to stay up," Perine said. "Three things I told them we need are focus, effort, and discipline. Those three things will help us win an OVAC championship."
