Juliann "Julie" Davis, 85, of Morgantown, WV, passed away peacefully at home on October 5, 2026, surrounded by family.
Born Juliann Virginia Harrison on July 6, 1941, in Cherry Run, WV, she was the daughter of the late Julian Woodrow “Woody” Harrison and Geraldine French Harrison.
After graduating from Hedgesville High School in 1959, Julie became a licensed cosmetologist and later owned her own shop. In the mid-1980s, she earned her real estate license with The Mike Haywood Group in Keyser.
Her most rewarding work was driving a school bus for special needs children, and later serving as Director of Transportation for Hampshire County Schools. Her exemplary service was recognized when she was named Hampshire County's Service Personnel of the Year. She retired in 2003.
Julie's Christian faith was central to her life and guided her at Forest Glen UMC, Romney Presbyterian Church, and Suncrest UMC in Morgantown.
For 63 years, Julie lived with Type 1 diabetes, and she did it with remarkable grace. She rarely spoke of the hardship, and instead expressed gratitude for the medical advances that allowed her to not only live, but thrive. More than anything, she prayed for the time to raise her children into adulthood, and that was her greatest blessing. Her greatest role in life was Mom, then Grandma, then Great Grandma, and her children were her life.
Julie is survived by her three daughters: Elayne Dugan Wilfong and husband Rick of Fort Mill, SC; Kristina Dugan of Leesburg, VA; and Donna Dugan West and husband Todd of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Jacobi Wilfong and wife Bri, Julia McKenna Wilfong, and Luke West; two great-grandchildren, Hayden Wilfong and Hadley Wilfong (due in December); and two special cousins, Raelyn Shepler and Alanea Williams.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Calvin Davis, and her son, Joseph Nicholas “Jay” Dugan, Jr.
Julie's children are deeply grateful to Amy Cooper and Huining Li Haase for their companionship and support in recent years. The family offers special thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care of Morgantown for their compassion and comfort.
Per Julie's wishes, all arrangements will be private. It was also her wish that her ashes be placed near her son in Spring Mills Cemetery in Berkeley County, WV.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), or to Suncrest United Methodist Church in Morgantown.
Caring services are being provided by Dering-Henson Funeral Home.
