PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Preston High School football team brought home a well-earned 28-6 victory over Baldwin (Pa.) on Friday night, the second consecutive victory of 2026 for head coach Mark Deep and his crew after a 21-7 win over East Fairmont in Week 5.
PHS (2-4) used a strong rushing attack to rack up a 21-0 lead at halftime.
The Knights scored just before the break after a long pass play from senior quarterback Rowan Cramer to sophomore Connor Savage went down to the Baldwin one-yard line with two seconds left in the first half.
PHS called a timeout and punched it in for a touchdown, taking a three-score lead into the locker room.
"We came out and really wanted to establish the run game," Deep said. "We may have only thrown the ball four times. We executed our game plan really well. We are just trying to continue to build. Going back to the RCB game, even the North Marion game where we were close at halftime, these kids have what it takes to be successful when they play for each other and realize football is something you have to care about. We have to keep stacking good days, and good practices, and good games."
Friday's performance was a continuation of the last three weeks of momentum generated by the Knights.
PHS narrowly fell to Class AAA No. 1 Robert C. Byrd, 35-28, in Week 4 before returning home for its first win of 2026 against East Fairmont. The Knights then traveled to Pittsburgh for a matchup with Baldwin, returning to Kingwood with a massive victory over a 5A school from Pennsylvania.
"Confidence goes a long way," Deep said. "We have eight new starters on offense and defense, and we have some young players. Everyone is doing a tremendous amount of growing, and by gaining experience, you can really see the confidence grow in a lot of players."
The Knights will enjoy a bye next week before returning to face Bridgeport on the road in two weeks.
