Kitty Friend

Elizabeth Kay "Kitty" Friend, 79, of Bobtown, Pa., passed on to her eternal glory on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Born in Mount Morris, Pa. on June 12, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Emma (Bowser) Lemley Nehls and Arthur Nehls.

She was a loving wife and mother, totally devoted to her family, her church and her community. Kitty was an active and faithful member of the Bobtown United Methodist Church, having served as Church Secretary and with the United Methodist Women for many years. In Bobtown, she started the "Back to School Bash" offering free school supplies to local children, co-founded the Bobtown Yard Sale held each year, was a member and past president of both the Shannopin Civic Club and the Bobtown Senior Citizens, and a member of the Bobtown Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She retired in 1987 as a cook at the Westchester Carlisle dormitory at WVU.

Her beloved husband of 58 years, Arnold W. Friend passed away on March 2, 2024. Also deceased are two brothers, Richard Lemley and Gary Nehls.

Surviving are her three children, Michael Friend of Bobtown, Kelly Wilkins (Tim) of Bobtown, and Melissa Friend of Pittsburgh. Also five grandchildren, Amy Hughes (Kenny) of Carmichaels, Pa., Chelsie Wilkins (Stewart) of Mount Morris, Pa., Shaylie Wilkins (David) of Powhaten Point, Ohio, Marissa Friend of Pursglove, W.Va., and Dakota Nichols of Morgantown; five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Aubrianna, "Prince" Aaron, Asher and Carter; two sisters, Regina O'Brien of Oakland, MD, and Renee Rowan of Kingwood; and two brothers, John Lemley of Mount Morris, Pa. and Jeff Nehls of Morgantown. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, on Sunday, from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 PM, and again on Monday in the Bobtown United Methodist Church, from 10 until the 11:00 AM hour of service, with Pastors Gale Cobb and Ed Hanley officiating. Interment follows in Highland Cemetery, Davistown.
