The Filharmonic strikes perfect pitch in Morgantown

The Filharmonic, an L.A.-based a cappella group of Filipino Americans, comes to Morgantown Oct. 3, bringing its unique blend of hip hop, pop and R&B to the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center.
Featured on NBC's hit musical competition "The Sing Off" and in "Pitch Perfect 2," the five-piece vocal group combines the talents of Joe Caigoy, Trace Gaynor, Jules Cruz (vocal bass), and Niko Del Rey (beat boxer) to create a full-bodied musical experience. They have performed alongside pop stars John Legend, Shawn Mendes and many more.
"Hollywood Reporter" writes "The Filharmonic style mixes hip-hop sound with 90s nostalgia … linking their passion for a wide variety of performance styles," while "Entertainment Weekly" says the a cappella group "knows how to put on an effortless performance, dancing and just having a party."
This all-ages event is perfect for music enthusiasts and fans of "Pitch Perfect.".
The Filhamonic takes the stage at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased online at go.wvu.edu/filharmonic, by phone at 304-293-SHOW or in person at the box office located in the main lobby of the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Filharmonic is the second performance in the WVU University Arts Series, which brings nationally touring Broadway shows, renowned musicians, family favorites and elite dance troupes to Morgantown each year. This season features 15 events, including "Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock LIVE" and "The Wiz" later this month, and "Bluey's Big Play" and "Hadestown" in the spring, among others.
