MORGANTOWN - Fox News contributor Joe Concha kept the crowd chuckling Friday night, even as he delivered a serious message about the leftward drift toward socialism and communism is areas of the country.
He opened with bit mourning the end of the political career of disgraced Congressman Eric Swellwell.
He talked about arranging to cover then-candidate Donald Trump’s rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, before the 2024 election. The Trump team was providing a ride on the Turmp jet, and Concha hadn’t eaten yet that day. He was famished.
"Trump is a billionaire, so I’m sure the food is going to be awesome. But, Wendy’s."
And what’s next on Trump’s renaming streak? Maybe Moon-A-Lago.
It was the 2026 Monongalia County Republican Executive Committee Reagan Dinner, held at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.
Leading up to Concha, various candidates and officials had touched on the same theme: the leftward drift and the rise of socialism and the Democratic Socialists of America.
Concha, also an author and columnist for the Washington Examiner, pointed to a couple poll charts showing that 59% of Gen Z (age 24 and under) view socialism in a positive light, while 55% of Millennials (ages 25-40) also do.
The left, he said, wants to nuke the filibuster to ensure permanent power by making D.C. and Puerto Rico states, abolishing the electoral college to shift voting power to the big blue cities, and stacking the Supreme Court.
"It’s pretty crazy stuff at this point," he said.
Concha framed most of his talk around following Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign. Lack of security was an issue at the Wildwood rally, and at the Butler. Pa., rally where Trump got shot.
It’s been recently revealed, he noted, that the late shooter had 27 phones. The Secret Service didn’t guard the building the shooter was on, supposedly because of a slightly sloped roof.
"Here we are," he said, "two years and two months after the fact and we have no idea how this kid, and whoever he worked with, was able to nearly take out Trump. And that is something that is very, very disconcerting."
He drew laughs referring to Vice President and replacement candidate Kamala Harris as a "human Chernobyl" who constantly tanked opportunities to make a case for herself.
And the DSA platform is to abolish the Senate, the presidency and prisons. "Common sense versus chaos," he said, "that’s what this election is coming down to at this point."
He closed, repeating a point he made when he opened. "This really is the most consequential election of our lives." And while that thought has been echoed for years, This is different, it really is."
SUBHEAD Rep. Riley Moore
Before Concha took the stage, 2nd District Congressman Riley Moore delivered some thoughts.
He talked about President John Quincy Adams, who after serving as president was elected to the House of Representatives with a goal of abolishing slavery.
Asked why, Adams said, "Duty is ours and results are God’s."
Moore said, "As Republicans, our duty is to go out and fight for our principles and our positions."
He also highlighted the leftward drift, and the red-green coalition pairing radical Islamists with socialists.
And he implied the Senate isn’t doing its duty, with 700 House bills sitting there untouched, including six versions of the Save America Act.
"It’s all at stake here," he said, "at the state level, federal level and otherwise."
