Morgantown Community Newcomers Club
Are you new to Morgantown and the greater Morgantown community? Or you live here already or have experienced a recent life change and wish to expand your circle of acquaintances and familiarity with the area's people and places. Either way, the Morgantown Community Newcomers' Club welcomes you! The club also welcomes members from surrounding areas.
Club activities help newcomers and native community members connect and include monthly coffees and luncheons featuring area speakers, an annual fall picnic, and special interest groups such as walking, books, movies, games, cooking, and wine tasting as well as special trips and activities.
Upcoming monthly members' coffees are held on the first Wednesday of the month, 10 a.m. - noon, on Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 at various locations and include a speaker or program. Monthly members' luncheons are held at various area eateries on the third Wednesday of the month, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., starting Oct. 21, and continuing with Nov. 18 and Dec. 16. Luncheons feature a speaker.
Luncheons and coffees are opportunities for new members to meet current club members and learn how club membership can further connect them with their community. Morgantown Farmers Markets
Summer Saturday Markets will be held downtown at the Spruce Street pavilion from 8:30 a.m. to noon and Wednesday Markets will be held at Mylan Park from 4 to 7 p.m. Check www.morgantownfarmersmarket.org for the calendar and updates.

Buckwheat cakes and sausage meals will be available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dine in or take-out at Masontown United Methodist Church. Tickets: Adults $12; children $6. Hot dogs and sausage burgers are also available.

-- St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church will hold its 20th Annual Classic Car Show in the parking lot of the church located at 185 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA. Registration will start at noon and end at 2 p.m., after which the car show will continue until 4 p.m. RAIN or SHINE. There is a registration fee of $12 and the first 150 cars will receive dash plaques and goody bags. Over 25 trophies, including one large trophy-Father Kyprian's Favorite, will be awarded.
Classes will include 1900-1930, 1931-1950, 1951-1960, 1961-1965, 1966-1970, 1971-1976, 1977-1987, 1988-2010, Street Rod/Modified, Trucks 1959 and older and 1960-2010. No judging for 2011 and newer. Arnie Amber, Oldies DJ, 50/50 drawing contest, Byzantine Auction and delicious food including a variety of sandwiches, soups, halushki, baked goods and more will be featured. -- A panel discussion on Clean Water Challenges in the Southern Coalfields will be held at 2 p.m. at Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown. Sponsored by Seeking Justice in the Southern Coalfields and Suncrest United Methodist Church. The panel discussion is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
October 1-3
Usually the Morgantown High School class of 1964 has a well-attended reunion every five years, but we decided not to wait until 2029. So we came up with throwing an 80th birthday party for ourselves. On Thursday, the class will meet at Smokin’ J’s, at the Holiday Inn at 1188 Pineview Drive at 4:30 p.m. On Friday, the class will ride on the PRT at 10 a.m. and have a scavenger hunt. In the afternoon, there will be a mystery gift exchange and a Zoom call with those who can’t attend. Throughout the day, the Holiday Inn will be the base for socializing, with lunch there. Pizza and veggie trays will be for dinner. Saturday, the class will tour MHS at 9 a.m. followed by coffee and donuts in the school cafeteria. We’ll gather to watch the WVU football game at the Holiday Inn. Concluding the reunion will be dinner at Crosley’s Restaurant, 704 Richwood Ave., at 7 p.m., reservations required. The cost of the entire reunion is $80. Dixie Downes has designed a t-shirt. The class has sent invitations to those with email. -- Goshen Baptist Church at 1070 Goshen Road may be the first to offer a Fall & Christmas Bazaar in Morgantown this year! (Yes, we know it is early.) Fall and Christmas crafts will be available as well as baked goods and a breakfast and lunch menu (homemade pies). The American Baptist Women Ministry invites you to come from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the bazaar benefit ABWM mission projects.

The Community Coalition for Social Justice and the WVU Center for Community, Connections and Culture invite you to celebrate Morgantown's perfect score for creating a safe LGBTQ+ environment from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Gluck Theatre. Morgantown scored 115 on the 2025 Municipal Equality Index.

Tribute to The Cranberries comes to the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25-$60, plus ticket fees, and are available online at therobinsongrand.com, by phone at 855-773-6283 or at the Theatre Box Office. The Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center is located at 444 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, WV 26301. The show is appropriate for all ages.

Get your tickets now for the Arnettsville Community Center Designer Bag Bingo. It will feature Coach, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Vera Bradley bags. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with early bird bingo at 1:15 p.m. and the main 20 game bingo event starting at 2 p.m. Advance tickets are available for $25 until Oct. 28.
