CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Michael Hawkins Jr. rushed for three touchdowns and added two more on the ground, as West Virginia beat No. 25 Virginia, 38-27 on Saturday inside Bank of America Stadium.
The Mountaineers (3-0) defeated a top 25-ranked nonconference opponent for the first time since 2021, as Hawkins finished with a career-high 123 yards rushing and Cam Cook added 123 yards on the ground, as WVU finished with 437 total yards of offense. Hawkins also threw two touchdown passes to receiver D.J. Epps, who had 92 yards on just three receptions.
