Charles Medvick

Charles Medvick, 95, of Richmond Heights, Mo., formerly of Maryland Heights, Mo. and Marion, Ill., died Tuesday, September 15, 2026, in Trustwell Assisted Living in Richmond Heights. He was born March 21, 1931 in Morgantown, to James and Sophia Medvick.

Charlie attended Morgantown High School and graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served three years during the Korean War. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, 40th Infantry division and honorably discharged as a sergeant.

He then attended West Virginia University and graduated with a BS in Forestry in 1956. Following graduation, he attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. and graduated in 1958 with a Masters degree in Forestry.

Charles worked as a conservationist for 41+ years across Wisconsin, Indiana and Illinois until retiring from the Illinois Department Of Mines and Minerals in 1997.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James Medvick and George Medvick; a sister, Mary Medvick Gansor; and a daughter, Carol Medvick, who passed away October 11, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arlene Kacik Medvick, whom he married May 30, 1956 in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Morgantown; two sons, Mark (Debbie) Medvick of Mascoutah, Ill., and David (Nancy) Medvick of Maryland Heights; three grandchildren: Troy (Chrissy) Medvick of Mascoutah; Haley (Cory) Mayo of Waterloo, Ill.; and Anthony Medvick of Maryland Heights; and two great- grandchildren, Madyson (Noah) Wienstroer of Mascoutah, and Brody Medvick, also of Mascoutah.

In lieu of all other gifts, donations may be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, 442 S. Demazenod Drive, Belleville, IL 62223, and can be made through the funeral home.

A private funeral service will be held at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah. Burial will follow in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo., with full military honors.
