Olive Inez Brown Kerns, 100, of Morgantown, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Martha's Manor.
She was born on April 24, 1926, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Homer and Lena Kendall Brown.
Olive was a warm and gracious woman who cherished every conversation she shared with others. She remained involved in her community through civic organizations, including CEOs, and continued serving as president of the Smithtown Senior Citizen Center well into her 90s. Known for her generous spirit, Olive made and donated quilts to charities in need. She also founded Tom's Run Homemaker County Extension, reflecting her lifelong commitment to service, fellowship, and helping others.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Alfred (Janice) Kerns; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Kerns; three sisters: June, Ruth and Edith; and seven grandchildren: Mark Kerns, Jeffrey Kerns, Johnny Goff, Jason Goff, Christopher Kerns, Dion Kerns and Denny Kerns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Kerns; one son, Carl Kerns; one daughter, Judy Goff; one son-in-law, John Goff; five brothers: Delfred Brown, Gaius Brown, Wallace Brown, Ronald Brown and Loy Brown; three sisters: Nona Freeland, Lurie Nestor and Mary Blosser; and one grandchild, Danielle Guthrie.
Family and friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on Tuesday, September 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Halleck Cemetery.
