Irene Catherine Carubia, 77, of Core, passed away early Saturday morning, September 5, 2026, at home, in the presence of her loving family following a long illness.
Friends may join the family to honor Irene's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave, Westover, 304-292-9494, on Wednesday, September 9, and Thursday, September 10, both days: from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:15 p.m., immediately followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary to conclude the evening visitation.
On Friday, September 11, Irene will be moved to St. John University Parish, 1481 University Ave., Morgantown, to lay in repose from 10 until the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Father Brian J. Crenwelge as celebrant. Following the Funeral Mass, Irene will be laid to rest in the Carubia Cemetery, near the family farm.
