Derley "Jake" Varner, 88, formerly of Jake's Run, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at Genesis Healthcare, Tygart Center in Fairmont.
Jake was born December 10, 1937, a son of the late Charles and Goldie I. Brewer Varner.
Jake is survived by his daughter, Misty; siblings: Ralph Varner, Everett Varner and Ethel "Toots" Varner; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Raymond "Skieze" Varner, Charles Varner, Jr., Ruby "Sis" Hemmer, Ira "Buck" Varner, Richard Varner and half-sister, Betty Skedel.
A visitation for Jake will take place on Saturday, September 13, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover, 304-292-9494. A graveside service will immediately following the visitation at the Olive Cemetery in Pentress.
