Catherine F. "Cathy" May, 83, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, early Friday morning, August 28, 2026 at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown, WV.
Cathy was born October 12, 1942, in Waynesburg, PA, a daughter of the late Edna Baker.
Survivors include her son Frank May and companion Cathy Bowers of Morgantown; and three grandchildren, Canon, Bryiar, and Michael "Tate" May.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank May in November of 2025; her son, Todd May; and a brother, Fred Baker.
She was a graduate of Waynesburg High School. She began early in her adult life with a career in home interiors. She then became a real estate agent. She, along with her husband Frank, were the owners of Cathy's Concessions, a popular food truck that appeared in many local fairs and festivals.
Upon retirement, she and Frank traveled to various different places in the motor home. Later, they became snowbirds, purchasing a home on Tampa Bay and spending their winters there. Later in life, she enjoyed spending time with her family at their cabins in Elkins and Maryland, where they enjoyed fishing, crabbing, boating, and watching sunsets.
Friends may join the family to honor Cathy's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover, 304-292-9494, on Thursday, September 3 from 5 to 8 p.m., and again on Friday, September 4 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. officiated by Pastor Doug Harsh. Interment will follow at Greene County Memorial Park in Waynesburg.
