Detective Noah John Vincent Thompson, 27, of Fairmont and formerly of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly while vacationing in Scotland Friday, July 31, 2026.
Noah was born in Morgantown June 3, 1999, a son of Greg and Leona Thompson, who survive him.
He is also survived by his siblings, Allison Thompson, Madison Bartrug (Jared), and Joseph Thompson; his fiancee, Madison Zink; and his beloved pets, Dolly, Onion, Omar, and Ozzy. His memory will also be treasured by his "playgroup" family and all those who had the pleasure to work alongside him in the Sheriff's office.
Noah was a 2017 graduate of Morgantown High School. He began his career with the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office in 2018 as a transport officer. In 2020, he graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy and was sworn in as a deputy sheriff. Demonstrating exceptional dedication and service, Noah was promoted to the Detective Division in 2026. He took great pride and satisfaction as a dedicated public servant.
Noah was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved music - particularly classic rock, and was a NASCAR fan.
Friends may join the family to honor Noah's life and legacy in the auditorium of University High School, 131 Bakers Ridge Road, Morgantown, Saturday, August 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of his celebration life at 4 p.m.
