ACGM, YCF announce organizational arts grants

MORGANTOWN - The Arts Council of Greater Morgantown and Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia Inc. announce the recipients of the 2026-27 Organizational Arts Grants. Thirteen nonprofits in Monongalia County were awarded a collective total of $135,000 at an event Monday at The Co-Op in Morgantown.
The following organizations received grants: Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society, Monongalia Arts Center, Monongalia Symphony Orchestra, Monongahela River Trails Conservancy, Morgantown Art Association, Morgantown Dance, Morgantown Forward (sponsored by ACGM), Morgantown Theatre Company, Spark! Imagination and Science Center, Summit Chamber Music Series, The Shack Neighborhood House, West Virginia Botanic Garden and West Virginia Public Theatre.
This initiative is a collaborative effort supported by contributions from the City of Morgantown, the Monongalia County Commission, and the Douglas H. Tanner Memorial Fund for the Arts. Additional funding was provided by donations from Dr. Stephen J. Wetmore, Anka M. Fantulin Endowment for Animals and Arts, The Arts Fund at YCF, and the Miles McKennan Foreman Youth Art Fund.
The mission of the Organizational Arts Grant program is to broaden community support for the arts, promote excellence in the arts, and ensure that our community has a variety of arts programs. The grant structure and criteria were formulated by a committee of volunteers, including individual artists and arts organizations.
"Our community is stronger because of the nonprofits that bring arts and culture to life throughout Monongalia County," said Lisa Giuliani, Grant Program Chair. "We're grateful to our city and county partners for investing in the arts, and we congratulate this year's grant recipients for creating opportunities that inspire creativity, enrich lives and make our community a vibrant place to live, work and visit. While funding was limited this year, the committee worked to ensure the awards would have a maximum impact on the local community. Even with reduced resources, we are grateful to our supporters and excited for the projects selected.”
Since 2018, when the City of Morgantown and the Monongalia County Commission began collaborating on the Organizational Arts Grant program, more than $1.6 million in grant funding has been awarded to local nonprofits working to promote the arts in Monongalia County.
The 2027 Organizational Arts Grant application is anticipated to be available online in April at www.ycfwv.org.
