Senior Monongalians
TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM
Our transportation program will provide seniors who cannot drive, lack transportation or live too far from a bus route, with transportation from their homes to our senior center. This will allow seniors to participate in activities, socialize, have a delicious and nutritious lunch, and much more. Space is limited. To get more information, check your eligibility, and reserve your seat, call our office before 3:30 p.m. the day before you want to ride, 304-290-7661. The suggested donation is $2.
LUNCH IN THE CENTER
We invite you to join us for a delicious meal, served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Adults aged 60 or older eat for a suggested donation of $2. Menus can be found on our website, Facebook page, or at our agency. Lunch is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Menus are subject to change without notice. All meals are served with a carton of 2% white milk. This week’s menu:

GROUP EXERCISE CLASS
Tuesday & Thursday

The exercises focus on promoting range of motion, flexibility, and balance. They can be done standing or sitting in a chair. This class is currently full.
LINE DANCING
Wednesdays – except for the second Wednesday of the month
10 to 11 a.m.
Learn the traditional and contemporary line dances in this fun class. Your instructor, Amy, will guide you through each dance. This class is open to beginners as well as more seasoned line dancers.
**If Mon County schools close due to inclement weather, Line Dancing Class will be canceled.
DRUMS ALIVE
Mondays and Wednesdays
10 to 11 a.m. or 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. (Please refer to our "Drums Alive Class Schedule" for the correlated times and dates. This can be found on our Facebook and/or around our center.

Free Blood Pressure & Glucose Screenings
Join students from WVU's School of Pharmacy as they offer FREE blood pressure and glucose checks to older adults visiting our center. Monitoring these values can assist you and your doctor with maintaining or improving your over-all health.

Drums Alive
Get into the rhythm of the music and let go of all that stress as you "bang on your drum" and move around. This class is very low impact, great for your mood, and will work out those arms!

Bingo with Choice Care
Heather from Choice Care will host our weekly bingo. Bring a friend or two and enjoy our air conditioning while you play a few games. Stick around for our bonus Cash Cover All game. The winner will be awarded 50% of the total jackpot. Its $2 per person to play. Fifty percent of the total entry fees will help support the activities and events held at Senior Monongalians.

Mon Bingo
This friendly, fun event features 20 games of cash bingo, instant winner games, a 50/50 cash raffle, concessions, and more! Mon Bingo benefits the programs and services offered to older adults and their families, throughout Mon County, by Senior Monongalians. Your initial pack is $20. Doors open at 5 p.m. Games begin at 6 p.m.

The dues are $10 per year, all expiring on June 30. This includes free use of the exercise room, and a discounted rate for the pavilion rental. Members will receive a monthly newsletter which gives them first notice of all events and exclusive members only events. A weekly email is sent to everyone reminding them of upcoming events for the week.
The large pavilion is available for rent. The pavilion has 6 12-foot picnic tables and can easily accommodate a large crowd. Other tables are available for food service and there are several benches in the pavilion area. There is also a cornhole area available. There is a stage area and restrooms nearby. Call 304-296-6583. Our exercise room is available when the center is open.
BINGO: Bingo every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Doors open at 4:00 PM and kitchen open at 5 p.m. No reserved tables. Cards are $5 each (e.g. – 4 cards are $20 and 6 cards are $30). You can play any number of cards you want. We use paper and daubers. Daubers are for sale, or you can use one to return at the end of the night. Our kitchen features hot dogs with or without chili, nachos, soft pretzels, and soft drinks each night. We will have a feature rotating sandwich each week also.
CARDS AND GAMES: Tuesday and Thursday mornings are especially active for our card plays and anyone is invited to join in. Playing usually starts shortly after 9:00. If you are interested in other days of the week, get a group together and stop in.
MAHJONG: Thursday at 9 a.m. Beginners are welcome as some experienced players have volunteered to teach.
DULCIMERS: They get together on Tuesday mornings to play and practice. They welcome anyone who would like to learn also. Judy Werner leads this group, and it is enjoyable to just sit and listen.
LINE DANCING: We now have line dancing classes on Wednesday morning at 10:15 a.m. The classes are designed for beginners, but all are welcome.
TAI CHI - Cecil Pollard is currently holding Tai Chi classes on Thursday evenings at 6. This will continue through September 3 and then take a 2-week break. They will resume on September 24.
MOUNTAINEER WATCH PARTIES: Join us whenever the Mountaineers play. We have a big screen TV and ESPN+, so we have you covered whether they are home or away.
EXERCISE CLASS - We concentrate on stretching, cardio and strength with videos designed for seniors. Most exercises are performed in a chair but will enhance everyone's balance, strength and stamina.
HAND AND FOOT TOURNMENT - On the 4th Thursday of each month a Hand and Foot Tournament is held. Please arrive by 9:45 so that teams can be set up. Play will commence at 10 a.m. One round will be played and then the center will serve lunch. Round two will begin after lunch. The team with the highest combined score will be declared winners. No prize, just a picture for our newsletter
MOVIE NIGHT - On the second Friday night of each month at 6 p.m., we will view a movie in our TV room. Selection of movies come from our members. We all relax with our popcorn and watch a movie on our big screen TV.
MUSIC BINGO - On the third Friday of each month at 6 p.m., we play Music Bingo. If you haven't played before instead of numbers a genre of music is played and you mark the title of the song on your card. Each card played is $10. Come and play, sing-along and enjoy a snack from our concession stand. The doors and kitchen open at 5.
6TH ANNUAL CONCERT IN THE PARK SERIES - We are excited to announce the dates for our Concert in the Park Series. Mark your calendar to attend. All are welcome. Dinner will be at 5 p.m. and concert will begin in the pavilion at 6 p.m. If you come for dinner, we greatly appreciate a donation for the meal to defer costs.
