MORGANTOWN - Akkary Cosmetic Surgery & Medspa announces the launch of the first American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) Certified Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program in the State of West Virginia, marking a significant milestone in graduate medical education and cosmetic surgery training within the region.
The AACS Certified Fellowship Program is recognized as one of the nation’s premier post-residency training pathways dedicated exclusively to cosmetic surgery, providing comprehensive, hands-on education in cosmetic surgery, patient safety, aesthetics, and practice management.
The fellowship will welcome its inaugural fellow in August. The first fellow will relocate from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Morgantown to complete the one-year training program.
Demonstrating the program’s early success and national appeal, a second fellow from New York has already matched to begin training during the following academic year.
The fellowship program is directed by Dr. Ehab Akkary. Fellows will receive advanced training in facial and body cosmetic surgery, minimally invasive aesthetic procedures, patient safety, research, quality improvement, ethics, and practice management.
“Establishing an AACS Certified Fellowship Program is one of the greatest honors of my professional career,” Akkary said. “Training the next generation of cosmetic surgeons is both a privilege and a responsibility. Our goal is not only to teach surgical techniques but also to instill a lifelong commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, clinical excellence, and compassionate patient care.”
Beyond advancing medical education, the fellowship is expected to have a positive impact on the local community and economy by attracting physicians from across the United States to live and train in Morgantown, supporting workforce development and further establishing West Virginia as a destination for advanced medical education and innovation.
