Country Fest and Auction to be held Aug. 22

For the 31st year, Country Fest and Auction will be held at the Garrett County Fairgrounds (located in McHenry, Maryland) on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 8 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Country Fest has a family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of wholesome fun for young children and a lively auction to entertain the older crowd.
The auction, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will feature home décor, craft items, In-Home Dinners, collectibles and a variety of other items. Antiques will be sold at 11 a.m. A highlight of the auction is homemade quilts that are on display throughout the day and auctioned at 1:30 p.m.
Demonstrations of forging, horse shoeing, apple cider pressing and ice cream turning will happen periodically throughout the day. The children's pedal tractor pull will be at 11 a.m. and the aerial candy drop at 2 p.m. (subject to weather conditions).
There are several food booths with donuts, soft pretzels, various baked goods, ice cream, Chicken BBQ and more (including breakfast).
Other activities are a live animal display, barrels of fun rides, pony rides and hayrides.
An acapella male quartet, the Singing Servants, will provide Gospel Music throughout the day.
Parking and admission are free.
Proceeds from the event will go toward funding the Christian education of the schoolchildren of the Bittinger and Pillar of Life Mennonite churches and a percentage will go to Christian Aid Ministries.
