Jack Leonard Dumire, 85, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2026. He was born November 19, 1940, in Pierce, the son of Otis “William” and Katherine Shillingburg Dumire.
Jack spent his life building a legacy of hard work and service and always added a little bit of humor to any situation. He graduated from Morgantown High School and subsequently spent 22 years proudly serving his country in the United States Army.
After retiring from the service, Jack devoted another 10 years serving the community as a school bus driver for the Monongalia County Board of Education.
Outside of work, he was happiest when spending time with his wife, Betty; traveling, gardening, as well as fishing with his grandchildren.
Jack, along with his wife, Betty, were also faithful members and supporters of the Morgantown Bible Church in Brookhaven.
His family will forever miss his comforting and supportive presence, endless sense of humor, and always just being there when he was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis “Bill” and Katherine “Kitty” Dumire; his beloved wife of 31 years, Betty; as well as his brother, Robert; sister, Margie (Roby) Dumire; and nephew, Robert “Bobby” Dumire.
He is survived by his son, Russell Dumire; his grandchildren, Bryan, Patrick, and Christopher Dumire; as well as his great-granddaughter, Addison Dumire.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation Wednesday, July 29, from 10 until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m., in the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown, WV 26501. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
