A Pennsylvania girl remained on life support Wednesday after her mother, police said, allegedly refused to seek medical attention when the girl reportedly drank bleach at a Preston County campground.

The 8-year-old girl from Fayette County was in “stable but critical condition” at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Kalee Barnhart said Wednesday.

Troopers found the girl “unresponsive, actively seizing and bound by multiple seat belts” Monday afternoon in the back of her mother’s vehicle in Perry Township, according to court documents.

The girl was first taken to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital Monday before being transferred to Ruby, where she was placed on life support, state police said in a statement.

The girl’s mother, Lisa Miller, was driving to Lower Tyrone Township from Big Bear Lake Camplands in Bruceton Mills, according to court documents. Police said by the time she was pulled over, Miller had already driven past two hospitals.

Preston County 911 had requested a welfare check on the girl, triggering a search for the vehicle.

Miller, 60, of Dawson, faces charges for endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangering another person.

Miller’s son, who was also in the vehicle, told police he had told his mother to take the girl to the hospital after she vomited blood. Instead, Miller said she was taking the daughter home to “lock her up,” according to the complaint.

Miller also hit the girl, leaving her with multiple bruises, the boy told police.

Miller was lodged in the Fayette County Jail without bail on the grounds of posing a danger to the girl and other children in the house.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 28.
