Florence M. Garcia Uphold, 89, of Morgantown, died Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in her home, following a lengthy illness. Born July 9, 1937 in Fairmont, she was a daughter of the late Selso and Virginia Battencourt Garcia.
Surviving are her daughter, Christine M. Uphold Fullmer (Danny); and son, Larry A. Uphold (Alicia), all of Morgantown; two granddaughters, Samantha Wiles (Jeremy) and Jenny Nestor (Todd); great- grandchildren, Chailyn (Rem) Muir, Ellahondra, Gavin, Treston, Rowan, Zayden and Elias; brothers, Tony (Dorothy) Garcia, Nick (Jackie) Garcia, Richard (Delores) Garcia and Ralph (Amy) Garcia; in-laws, Judy and Foster Mathews; and a number of loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 45 years, Larry E. Uphold; brothers, Augustine and Frank Garcia; a sister, Rosalie McDonald; and a great-granddaughter, Grace Nestor.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, Friday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when funeral services will begin in the funeral home, with her brother, Ralph Garciam officiating. Interment follows in Fairview Cemetery, Pisgah.
