MORGANTOWN — West Virginia wrestling announced it’s bringing in one of the all-time greats back to its program as part of its coaching staff. All-time winningest Mountaineer wrestler Peyton Hall is joining head coach Tim Flynn’s staff as an assistant.
“I am excited to give back to a program that has given so much to me,” Hall said. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to be back with the Mountaineers.”
Hall had 135 career wins, including strong postseason showings. He was the Big 12 Champion at 165 pounds in 2025, becoming the fifth Mountaineer to secure a Big 12 title. He was the first WVU wrestler to qualify for five NCAA tournaments and was a three-time All-American. Hall’s best performance at the NCAA tournament was when he finished third in 2025. He had 17 NCAA tournament victories over his career, which is tied for the most in program history with Greg Jones.
“We are thrilled to have Peyton Hall join our staff,” Flynn said. “Adding a three-time All-American and five-time Academic All-American is great for the program, and he is someone our young kids can look up to. Peyton is a homegrown talent and WVU graduate, making it the icing on the cake. He is going to be an excellent coach.”
