Paul Ray Martinelli passed at 7:28 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2026 in Harmony at Morgantown, Morgantown. He was born May 23, 1938, in Morgantown, a son of the late Pietro Croce Martinelli and Eva Maree Messenger Martinelli. Paul was affiliated with the Catholic faith.
For 36 years, he served in the U.S. Army including serving during the Vietnam War.
He enjoyed working on his cars, and had a real passion for running.
Paul served on the Board of Governors for the WVU Staff Counsel. He worked for West Virginia University for 51 years, retiring in 2017 with the Cooperative Extension Service Office as an operations manager.
On September 27, 1983 he married Dixie McCormick Martinelli, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Kari and husband Leon Concepcion of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Jeff and wife Erin Martinelli of Long Beach, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Stacy Roman-Hopkins and husband Greg of Morgantown; five grandchildren, Ava Jade, Shae, Francesca, Mason and Amara; two sisters, Alice Turner of Warrenton, Va., Darlene Fogarty of Bruceton Mills; one brother, Daniel Martinelli of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one daughter, Krisi Martinelli.
At this time there will be no visitation or services. A Celebration of Life Service will be held by the family at a later date.
