Graduates take the stage as WVU commencement weekend begins

MORGANTOWN — Thousands of graduates crossed the stage Friday as West Virginia University opened its May 2026 Commencement ceremonies inside the WVU Hope Coliseum, celebrating the achievements of students from the College of Law and several health sciences programs.

Family members, friends and faculty packed the coliseum throughout the day as graduates in caps and gowns gathered for the milestone moment, applauding classmates and embracing loved ones after receiving their diplomas. Friday’s ceremonies honored students from the College of Law, School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Public Health and School of Medicine.

The weekend-long commencement celebration continues through Sunday with ceremonies recognizing graduates from colleges and programs across the University. Additional ceremonies will feature students from business, engineering, arts and sciences, agriculture, media and applied human sciences as the Class of 2026 closes out its academic journey in Morgantown.

Saturday, May 16

9 a.m. — College of Creative Arts and Media

12:30 p.m. — Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources

4 p.m. — John Chambers College of Business and Economics

Sunday, May 17

9 a.m. — College of Applied Human Sciences

12:30 p.m. — Benjamin M. Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources

4:30 p.m. — Eberly College of Arts and Sciences
