MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office released the identity of the individual located during a search operation at Cooper’s Rock State Forest on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Andrew Zimmer, 39, of California.
At about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the forest following reports of a potential missing person. The investigation was initiated after Zimmer’s abandoned vehicle was discovered. Deputies, along with search and rescue teams, immediately launched an exhaustive search of the surrounding forest and terrain.
Following a thorough search operation, Zimmer was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its investigation into the circumstances of the death and has determined that no foul play was involved.
The Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Zimmer during this difficult time.
