Delores Ann Thomas, 91, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 26, 1934 in Morgantown, to Charles and Mabel Shisler. A proud graduate of Morgantown High School’s Class of 1952, she married the love of her life, Edward Wilburn Thomas that same year, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love, devotion and family. Delores spent most of her life in Morgantown with chapters in Fort Bragg, N.C. and New
Philadelphia, Ohio.
She worked at Sterling Faucet and Montgomery Wards in Morgantown, where she was known for her strong work ethic and steady presence.
Following her hus-band’s passing and her retirement, she continued to give generously of her time, volunteering at the Rosenbaum Family House, the Ruby Memorial Hos-pital gift shop and bringing joy to others as a member of the Senior Shufflers line dancing group.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. She ded-icated herself to raising her four sons, Edward, Jr., Richard, John and David; cherished her daughters-in-law, Bridget, Marla, Cindy and Kelley; and adored her nieces, Jo Ann, Nancy, Patricia, Pamela and Kelly. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Eddie, Chad, Steve, Casey, Johnny, Brian, Josh, Tanner, Jared, Matthew and Katelyn; her great-grandchildren, Jacey, Corey, Sunny, Kyle, Cavyn, Jayden, Brityn, Carah, Matthew, Jake, Eli, Ethan, Alexis, Christopher, Lily, Skyla, Edward, Sloane, and Silas; and her great-great-grandchildren, Estele, Elise, and Clarabella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mabel Shisler; her beloved husband, Edward Thomas; her sis-ters, Ola, Roxy, Marion and Celia; her brothers, George (Debs) and Neil; and her grandson, Brian. She is survived by her big brother, Charles Shisler, Jr. of Indian Land, S.C.
Delores was an avid quilter, earning a blue ribbon at the Monongalia County Fair-a reflection of the patience, care and love she brought to everything she did. She was active in the Methodist Church in Jerome Park, where she grew up, faithfully serving her community for many years. She also found great joy in bowling, partici-pating in a league for decades and advancing to state tournaments along-side her dear friends.
She especially treasured time spent with her family during holidays, birthdays, and the annual Shisler family reunion each Labor Day weekend—all moments that reflected the love and connection she nurtured throughout her life.
Delores Ann Thomas will be remembered for her quiet strength, her gen-erous heart, and the enduring legacy of love she leaves behind.
Friends and family will be received in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon, with Pastor Larry Buckland officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
