Russell Hayes “Dude” Lamp, 92, of Morgantown, died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Morgantown Healthcare Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Russell was born in Fairmont August 28, 1933 to Jesse James Lamp and Della Lou Perkins Lamp of Morgantown.
Russell served eight years in the U.S. Navy as a boatsman and developed his trade as a mechanic.
Russell was a loving husband, dad, and pappy and he will be greatly missed. To know him was to love him. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. His helpful nature and ornery ways endeared him to everyone he met.
Russell is survived by his daughter, Tina Marie Lamp; grandson, Jacob Alessandro Lamp; along with several nieces and nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.
Russell was preceded in death by his wife, Emaline Marie Lamp; parents, Jesse and Della Lamp; brothers, John, Orval, Jesse “Jack”, and Archie; and sisters, Rachel, Juanita, Daisy, Phyllis, Thelma, Dorothy and Mary Lee.
Friends may gather in McCulla Funeral Home Saturday, April 18, from 3 until the time of a funeral service to honor Russell’s life at 5 p.m. Following the service, McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services.
