Frances “Fran” Marion Sousa, 90, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully Monday, March 30, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones. A native of Pittsburgh, Fran was born to the late Mildred and Charles Kaminski August 24, 1935.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene Sousa; and her brothers, Robert “Bob” Kaminski and Charles “Chuck” Kaminski.
She is survived by brother, Kenneth Kaminski; stepson, Mark Sousa; along with innumerable cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great-nieces and nephews, many of whom were by her side in her final days.
Fran is remembered for her incredible vitality, warmth, and love of life. As a childhood survivor of polio, Fran’s wisdom knew no bounds. She graduated from Robert Morris University Secretary School and spent much of her career at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Bermuda, where she was awarded Secretary of the Year.
Throughout her life, Fran enjoyed travel, sunshine, fashion, mid- century pop and jazz music, and her cat, Katy. She lived her life in accordance with her Catholic faith, shining a light for everyone she met.
Friends and family will be received in St. Francis de Sales Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, Wednesday, April 8, from 10 until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD as celebrant.
A graveside committal service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2900 Washington Road, Canonsburg, with Fr. Harry Bielewicz. Fran will be laid to rest alongside her husband, parents, and brother, Charles.
