Next Generation on the Lanes: Youth Bowlers Take Center Stage in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia State USBC Youth Championships unfolded over two weekends, March 21–22 and March 28–29, at Suburban Lanes, drawing young bowlers from across the state to compete at one of West Virginia’s premier youth tournaments. Organized and sanctioned by the West Virginia State USBC Youth Association, the event featured a full slate of competition, including both scratch and handicap championships across age divisions ranging from U8 through U18.
Bowlers competed in scheduled squad sessions throughout each day, with morning and afternoon blocks keeping the lanes active. The dual-format structure created a balanced competitive field—scratch divisions highlighting top raw scores, while handicap play allowed developing athletes to remain competitive. Each frame carried added stakes, with participants vying not only for state titles but also for scholarship opportunities tied to USBC youth programs.

The photos captioned during the second weekend games showcased youth bowlers from a wide range of age groups, with competitors traveling from across West Virginia to take part in the championship setting.
