Timothy Hastings

With heavy hearts and after a hard fight Timothy “Tim” Hastings, 71, was called home to be with the lord on Monday, March 16 , 2026.
He was master builder who traded a football scholarship for a lifetime of craftsmanship and devotion to his family, a man who built his legacy with his own two hands, Tim leaves behind a blueprint of integrity, love, and strength for all who knew him.
A 1972 graduate of Marietta High School, Tim was a standout athlete whose talent on the field earned him a scholarship to Youngstown State University. Ultimately, Tim chose to embark on his long career as a contractor instead.
On October 6, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Paula Karcher. Together, they raised three sons who were the pride of Tim’s life: Todd (Heather), Eric (Brittany) and Mitchell (Lindsey). He was a proud papa to Tanner, Braden, Eziah, Lily Rose and Ryder, whom he loved dearly.
Tim was the son of the late Bill and Marylou Rowekamp Hastings. He is also survived by his sister Kristy and her husband Rick Groth and family.
Tim was known for an extraordinary work ethic, often working seven days a week when the job called for it. In 1991, he achieved a career pinnacle in building the Marshall Stadium in Huntington, WV. Shortly after, the family moved to Morgantown, where he founded his construction business, becoming a respected contractor in the local business community through his honesty and skill.
Tim looked forward to fishing and boating, Tim’s true passion was found on the sidelines, he never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams: the Marshall Thundering Herd, the WVU Mountaineers, and University High School. He was a constant fixture at every sporting event, transitioning from his sons’ biggest fan to the most dedicated cheerleader for his five grandchildren.
At home, he was the doting “Daddy” to his two beloved princess fur babies, Belle and Coco.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man who worked with his hands but led with his heart at Hardman Family Funeral Home and Onsite Crematory 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 12 to 1. Catholic Funeral Rites will be held at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Deacon Michael Brumley as celebrant. The family will be holding a celebration of life at Tropics at a later date.
