Jeanne Kay Grayson Taylor

Jeanne Kay Grayson Taylor, 79, of Morgan-town, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, in the Memory Care Unit at Harmony with family by her side.

Born on September 4, 1946, in Morgantown, she was the daughter of Vir-ginia and Tom Grayson. Jeanne was a proud graduate of Morgantown High Class of 1964 and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from West Virginia University. Jeanne began her teaching career in the early 1970’s at a small rural school in Preston County before joining Suncrest Jr. High/Middle School, where she spent the majority of her career teaching Home Economics and Computer Science until her retirement.

Generations of students fondly remember learning to cook, sew, and create treasured ceramic pieces in her classroom, especially the vintage green lighted Christmas trees that still glow in many local homes. When Computer Education was introduced into the public school curriculum, Jeanne embraced the challenge with enthusiasm. She went on to oversee a generation of students into the digital age. Her dedication earned her numerous awards and recognition throughout the years. She served on countless committees, wrote grants to enhance educational opportunities, and worked as a Benedum liaison to the WVU Teacher Education Program, leaving a lasting impact on students and fellow educators alike.

A lifelong Mountaineer fan, Jeanne’s love for WVU athletics was unwavering. She and her husband regularly opened their home for pre-game tailgates, offering parking, food, and friendship. Until her health declined, she attended football and basketball games faithfully regardless of the weather.

Affectionately known as “Jeanne Kay” by her son’s friends and “Gigi” by her grandson, she shared her enthusiasm for WVU sports, March Madness, and NASCAR racing.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 58 years, Steve; her son Joshua, and his wife, Stephanie, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and her beloved grandson, Wade. Wade will always cherish her special “Gigi crackers.” She is also survived by her sisters, Rita Bradford of Williamsburg, Va., and Margaret Link of Camden, Tenn.; her nieces, Shana Link and Reba Martinez; and her nephew, Zach Bradford. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Goldie and Leonard Taylor; her brothers-in-law, Wade Taylor and Larry Bradford; and her nephew, Heath Bradford. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Harmony Memory Care and Amedisys Hos-pice for their compas-sionate and devoted care throughout Jeanne’s journey.

In accordance with her wishes, Jeanne’s body will be donated to the WVU Human Gift Registry to further Alzheimer’s Research. Donations in Jeanne’s memory, may be made to Amedisys Hospice. https://www. amedisys.com/services/hospice-care/donations/
