David Duane Royce

David Duane Royce, 71, a lifelong resident of Morgantown, passed away peacefully February 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 18, 1954, to Delbert Duane and Mary Abigail Woodford Royce.
David was a graduate of Morgantown High School and attended West Virginia University; he was a lifelong Mountaineer fan.
In his spare time, David was a motorcyclist and played softball for many years.
He enjoyed serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Morgantown Church of God, where he served as the audio technician during his time there.
David’s heart was ever devoted to his beloved wife, Michelle E. Vandergrift Royce, whose companionship and support were a constant source of joy in his life.
He was also a cherished uncle, leaving behind his nieces, Julia Magrone, Kimberly Sandora, and Amanda Powell; in addition to a nephew, Matthew Powell; and brother-in- law, Donnie Powell. His presence as a kind and loyal uncle will continue to be felt by his many great-nieces and great- nephews; and his beloved cat, Sam.
Although David was preceded in death by his parents, and his dear sisters, Debra LeAnn Powell and Sharlene Beatrice Driggers, his memory and spirit will remain for all who knew him.
David’s career as a TV technician at WNPB and as an audio-visual technician at Fairmont State University was marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence and genuine passion for his work. His natural knack for electronics and his propensity to stay abreast of technological advances made him a respected figure both within the station and amongst his peers.
Family and friends are invited to gather in McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, Monday, February 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue in the funeral home Tuesday, February 24, from 10 until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Following the service, David will be laid to rest at Summers Cemetery in Morgantown.
