Betty J. Bishop passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Sundale Nursing Home, where she lived since April 2025. Betty was born in Morgantown August 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Sanford and Chloe Taylor.
She married Robert Bishop, Sr. in 1945 and they celebrated 76 years of marriage.
Betty was a devoted wife and mother of three boys. She loved family and farm life, going on family camping trips and charter bus tours, enjoying nature’s beauty, and being a member and past president of the Flaggy Meadows CEOS Club (for 55 years).
Betty was an excellent cook, which brought family coming back to enjoy many happy holidays in her home. She also proudly served as poll-worker/chairperson at her local election voting station for many years.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Bishop, Sr., her older sister, Elenor Dehart; and her younger brother, Leonard Taylor.
Betty is survived by her three sons, Bob Jr. (Dorothy), Don (Donna), and Dave; and five grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Sundale Nursing Home, who were such an important part of her final year.
A private burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
