Sylvia Jean Stockett

Sylvia Jean Stockett, 88, of Cheat Lake Community, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2026.
The daughter of Elmo and Ethel Mays Hoye, she was born on January 1, 1938, in Farmington, Marion County.
Jean retired from Lakeview Resort, as Executive Housekeeper, after 30 years of service. Family was her greatest joy and she devoted her life to supporting her son, grandchildren and great grandchildren, a role she cherished above all else.
She found purpose in every moment spent encouraging, lending a listening ear, offering words of wisdom, and showing up to every milestone both big and small. Her home was a place of comfort, kindness, and unconditional love. Nanny’s presence will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Gerald Stockett.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Bob and Vicki Stockett of Morgantown; three grandchildren: Steven Stockett, Kristen Casteel and her husband, Adam, and Shannon Schifano and her husband, Troy; four great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and London Casteel and Gisella and Amora Schifano; her sister, Ruth McDowell; niece, Dee Crites (Jeff); nephew, Harry McDowell (Darby); three sisters-in-law: Lila Wright (Gary), Charlotte Butler and Anita Wolfe (Mark); several nephews and great-nephews, a niece, and great-niece; and her dog, Theo.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 9, and from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Tuesday, February 10, with Pastor Tim Wotring officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery, Bruceton Mills (Pisgah Community).
