Shirley Marie Friend

Shirley Marie Rodeheaver Friend, 91, of Bruceton Mills, Mt. Dale Community, passed from this life, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. She is now at peace, united with her husband, Samuel William Friend.
Shirley was born at her parent’s home on January 12, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Parnell Rodeheaver.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don (Delores) Rodeheaver and Dale Rodeheaver; her sister, Mary Jane Harrison; and a grandchild, Matthew Allan Friend.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Steven R. Friend and wife, Tracy of Weatherford, Texas and Stanton R. Friend of Bruceton Mills and his former spouse, Kimberly Pifer from Cumberland, Md.; grandchildren, Samuel E. Friend and his partner, Krista Tenney of Anderson, S.C. and Christopher J. Friend of Bruceton Mills; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Renee Friend and Cayden James Friend; her brother-In-law, Jerry Lee Friend and wife, Patty from Friendsville, Md.; sisters-in-law, Louise (Dale) Rodeheaver from Chesapeake, Va., Erma Friend Wholer, of Altoona, Pa. and Janet Friend Brady, of Palm Bay, Fla; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Shirley attended Mt. Dale Church of the Brethren, where she was a choir leader and Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, and bird watching.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the time of the service, Sunday, January 18, with Pastor Butch Morsberger officiating. Burial will follow at Blooming Rose Cemetery, Friendsville, Md.
