MORGANTOWN – At 6:05 p.m. Monday, Monongalia County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 79 near the 152 mile marker in Westover.
Upon arrival, deputies and emergency personnel discovered a rollover accident involving five vehicles. Monongalia County EMS and Westover Volunteer Fire Department provided immediate medical intervention and transported two individuals to WVU Medicine J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown for treatment. The severity of their injuries is not being disclosed at this time.
Due to the investigation and the removal of debris, both northbound and southbound lanes of I-79 were closed for a period of time. Following the completion of cleanup and investigation, all lanes were reopened to traffic at about 8:20 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office. No further details are available at this time. Anyone with information regarding the crash is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office.
