MORGANTOWN – Through the first three games of the 2025 season, the Trinity Christian High duo of Austin Porta and Maddox Mousadis is each averaging over 20 points per game.
The most recent performance came on Thursday night, as both players eclipsed the 20-point mark, combining for 45 points in the Warriors’ hard-fought 62-45 victory over Union, high on the hill in Sabraton.
Mousadis, a junior, led Trinity Christian (3-0) with 23 points. Porta, a senior, was right behind his teammate with 22 points on seven made field goals. The Warriors shot 50% from the field with eight three-pointers, and dished 17 assists on 24 made field goals. Senior Colin Lemley contributed 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists as well.
Union was led by junior Braylon Ward, who scored a game-high 24 points.
“We just kept fighting tonight, and that’s what I love about our team this season,” TCS head coach Mitch Bland said. “They take pride in playing hard and playing defense, and that’s what you have to have to win challenging games.”
Efficiency has been key for the Warriors through their opening three contests, as Mousadis (60%), Porta (57%), and Lemley (50%) are all shooting the ball well from the floor.

As a team, Trinity Christian hasn’t shot worse than 48% in a game in 2025, while making at least seven triples in every game so far (eight in two games).
“The best thing about our guys scoring these points is they aren’t trying to do everything themselves,” Bland said. “They play within the game and take what comes to them. Everyone takes a bad shot here and there, but we don’t take shots that we can’t make, and we keep shooting. A good scorer has to keep shooting the ball.”
A back-and-forth opening quarter saw the Warriors ahead by three, 16-13.
Porta canned his second triple of the second quarter following a lay-in by Mousadis that extended the TCS lead to eight, 24-16, but the Tigers fought back in the final two minutes of the first half to cut the deficit to four entering the locker room, 26-22.
After trading baskets to open the third, the Warriors pulled away midway through the frame with a quick scoring run.
The Warriors outscored Union 36-24 in the second half, with 18 points in both quarters.
With the victory, Trinity Christian improves to 3-0 and will travel across Mon County to Blacksville for the 2025 Santa Series hosted by Clay-Battelle.
TCS will battle Madonna on Friday evening before returning Saturday to play an opponent to be determined (based on other results).
