Janet Sue Peale Snyder, 81, of Kingwood, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 19, 2025 in The Country Retreat in Albright. She was born April 4, 1944, in Racine, a daughter of the late Willard Everett Peale and Nellie Irene Barker Peale.
Sue earned her bachelor of arts degree from West Virginia University in 1966 and later earned her Masters of Education degree.
For over 45 years, Sue taught in Preston County Schools.
Her hobbies included planning the sixth-grade trip to Washington D.C., Bible study, teaching Sunday school, playing piano, singing, hosting themed dinner parties and foreign exchange students. She was an avid Mountaineer fan and season ticket holder. Sue held her own when keeping up a sports conversation with her husband, Earl.
Sue was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Knights of Pythians, Delta Kappa Gamma and volunteered at the Buckwheat Festival Ticket Information Booth.
Sue is survived by her cousins back home in Racine; her godchildren and their families; and many beloved special friends in her community.
In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Earl Johnson Snyder; and her cats, Sherman, Sissy, Rebekah, Al (Alex), Oliver, Midnight and Hannibal.
Friends and family will be received in the Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Price Street, Kingwood, from 1 until the 3 p.m. funeral hour Sunday, October 26, with Pastor Michael Ludle officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery.
